55th BFI London Film Festival
One of the world’s most star-studded film festivals ran from October 12 to October 27, 2011. The 55th BFI London Film Festival showed a total of 204 fiction films, which included 13 world premieres. It also screened 110 action and animated shorts. The Fernando Meirelles film 360, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jude Law and Rachel Weisz opened the film festival with a star gala. The closing gala featured the Terence Davies movie The Deep Blue Sea. Stars such as George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Seth Rogan, James Caan, Freida Pinto, David Cronenberg, Terence Davies, Fernando Meirelles among many other famous faces graced the red carpets. The festival also housed discussion panels and the festival awards recognized talents in new and established filmmaking. The festival also screened a few cinematic gems like Bye Bye Birdie, The Caine Mutiny, Les Enfants du Paradis and America, America.
